Board of Directors
Our Board is comprised of five of the most successful, influential and recognizable members of the Midtown community. Their backgrounds combine relevant banking, real estate and business experience with proven successful leadership.
Joseph D. Chipman, Jr. Chairman
Mr. Chipman served as Chief Executive Officer and as a founding director on the board of Lanier National Bank, in Gainesville, GA from 1988 until 2000, when Lanier National Bank was acquired by Century South/BB&T. Mr. Chipman retired in April 2002, and purchased a second home in Midtown Atlanta. Mr. Chipman was a senior executive at the Citizens Bank of Gainesville from 1975 until 1988. Prior to that, he also served as a bank examiner with the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance for four years. Mr. Chipman attended Gainesville College and graduated from West Georgia College with a degree in Economics and Business Administration and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Chipman remains active in the Gainesville community.
Bryan Fields
Mr. Fields is currently involved in real estate investment and development of retail properties in the Southeast. Recent projects are located in Florida and Georgia. He was a founding partner of Millenium Retail Partners; a retail real estate consulting company, working with Circuit City, BJ’s Wholesale, and Pharmaca stores.
Prior to his retirement in early 2002, Mr. Fields served as Senior Vice President of Real Estate for Home Depot. In that role, he led both domestic and international real estate activities for the company as it expanded its traditional stores, Home Depot Expo, various concept stores, Home Depot Supply, plus office and distribution facilities. Mr. Fields joined Home Depot in 1984 when the company had only 19 stores. When he retired, Home Depot had grown to over 1,300 stores
Rhonda Kahn
Ms. Kahn is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial & Chief Operations Officer of Midtown Bank. She has over 30 years of experience in the banking industry and is a founding member of the executive management team of Midtown Bank. She oversees the bank’s accounting, financial and treasury functions, as well as operations, mortgage banking, marketing, information technology, and human resources.
Ms. Kahn began her banking career in Denver, Colorado. Since then she has held senior management positions in banks located both in Colorado and Georgia. Ms. Kahn has served as the President of RLC Consulting, Inc. a company formed to offer services in the fields of accounting and operations to Georgia community banks, as well as Treasurer and Product Design Engineer for Vortex, Inc. a company formed to develop online management reporting services to community banks.
D. Kimbrough King, Jr.
Mr. King is President of Kim King Associates, LLC, a real estate development and investment company founded in 1972. Kim King Associates develops retail, office, residential, and mixed use properties, primarily in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Prior to joining Kim King Associates in 1999, Mr. King was a Vice President at B&I Lending, LLC, a small business lender which specialized in government guaranteed lending, primarily through the USDA and SBA. Mr. King worked with various community banks across the southeast to originate and underwrite loans in a variety of industries and markets. Mr. King graduated from Washington and Lee University with a BA in Economics. Mr. King serves on the Board of Midtown Alliance and lives in Midtown Atlanta.
R. Stanley Kryder
Mr. Kryder is President and Chief Executive Officer of Midtown Bank. He is responsible for all aspects of the bank's operations and growth plans. Mr. Kryder has over 33 years of experience in commercial banking. He began his career in Atlanta, Georgia in 1979 with the C&S National Bank and has held increasingly senior executive responsibilities with the following companies: Bank of America, formally known as NCNB National Bank, Wells Fargo, formally known as First Union Corporation and Regions Bank, formally known as AmSouth Bancorporation.
Mr. Kryder served as Executive Vice President of General Banking for the state of Georgia for First Union, now known as Wells Fargo, as well as serving as a Director of their Georgia bank and a member of their Corporate Management Committee. He also led large merger integration teams and strategic initiatives throughout the country. He led a 200 new branch initiative in Florida and managed large business units covering multiple states and lines of business. Mr. Kryder is on the Advisory Board of the Metro Atlanta Chamber and is a Director of the Midtown Alliance. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Bankers Association and is Chairman-Elect for 2013-2014.
